Top 5 National Parks if You Like Mountains

I would take hiking in the mountains surrounded by a beautiful landscape over anything, here are the top five national parks where you can experience this. Anyone who is a fan of the outdoors, beautiful mountains, and lots of wildlife would have to agree with me, that these are the best parks to go to. This guide will help you have the trip(s) of your lifetime. The top five National Parks list provides you with information on how to have a memorable trip. Especially if you like mountains and wildlife.

  1. Yellowstone

The first National Park ever has everything from gorgeous mountain ranges to burning hot geysers. The park is home to one of the world’s largest calderas with over 10,000 thermal features and more than 300 geysers. It has one of the world’s largest petrified forests. It has over 290 waterfalls with the 308′ Lower Falls of the Yellowstone River as it’s showpiece. The wildlife includes 7 species of ungulates (bison, moose, elk, pronghorn), 2 species of bear and 67 other mammals, 322 species of birds, 16 species of fish and of course the gray wolf.

  1. Glacier

The nickname for this park if “The Crown of the Continent.” National Geographic stated “Crown of the Continent” is an apt nickname for this pair of parks, which feature some of the most impressive mountain scenery in North America.” Not to mention it has tons of wildlife.

  1. Yosemite

Yosemite National Park is best known for its waterfalls, but within its nearly 1,200 square miles, you can find deep valleys, grand meadows, ancient giant sequoias, a vast wilderness area, and much more. With similar wildlife to Yellowstone.

  1. Zion

It is a red-rock wonderland created by wind, water, and snow. The park’s ecosystems support about 800 native plant species, including more flowers than anywhere else in Utah. With more than 80 percent of the park designated wilderness area. The park revolves around a 15 mile beautiful canyon.

  1. Grand Canyon

Everyone knows the Grand Canyon. In the park there are many points to stop and view the beautiful landscape. Not to mention you can even take a camel to the bottom of the canyon.

These five National parks are the best of you like mountains and wildlife. These five national parks will help you have the best trip.  Now you see where I’m coming from when I say that I would go to these places over anything and if you go you will feel the same way.

Crabby Carload

If you’re couped up in the car for a long time with your family, they tend to get a little crabby. Everyone is fighting for their own space. The best thing you can do for yourself is to pop in some earbuds or put on some headphones and keep to yourself. Even if you don’t want to watch a movie or go on your device, put on some relaxing music and read a book or look out the window. Another thing that I found interesting is to research the things at the place you’re going. For instance if you were going to a certain town or city research some fun things that you and your family could do there. My family also likes to play the license plate game if we are going somewhere popular. All in all, there are many things you can do to try and get along with your family and pass time in the car.

Don’t Rush it

In order to make a road trip more fun, always spread the trip out onto more days than needed. After all, on a road trip, the journey is always the real destination. Don’t take the main route. Venture off to see more, trust me it’s worth it. If you end up in some little town , you might find that you have the time of your lives. When my family and I drove to Yellowstone we found a town called Cody, Wyoming and we liked it so much we stayed an extra day. We have done this many times. It is like adding little mini trips into your big trip. Don’t stick to your itinerary. Taking your time means allowing for the spontaneous to happen, and allowing for some awesome unexpected experiences to take shape.

Food!

Take a cooler with you. Not only will a cooler ensure that you always have enough water to keep yourself hydrated, but having a cooler can also be a great way to cut down on food costs, keep snacks or sandwich-making materials inside, and you won’t have to pay for as many meals. But don’t expect to be eating too healthy. Even with a cooler in the trunk, chances are you’ll still be eating out a lot. Which isn’t always a bad thing because you will mostly be eating at the local restaurants so you can taste their delicious food. There is this one smoothie bar that we stopped at in Florida and we loved it. Now everytime we go down to Florida we stop their almost everyday! We always seem to find places that are really tasty and remember them for next time or to suggest to others if they’re going to the area.

How to pack

When packing you need to follow these rules. The first one is to pack as light as possible. Never underestimate how little room you have in your car. It’s a much better idea to pack light and wash your clothes at a laundromat than to pack so much stuff that you have no room to sit comfortably. You’re on a roadtrip it’s not going to kill you if you wear the same pair of pants 2 days in a row. The second rule is to pack for the climate you’re going to. If you’re going somewhere out west in the summer the climate will vary but it will be mostly warm. So bring shorts and T-shirts but you’re still going to want to bring some pants, sweatshirts, and a windbreaker because it gets cold at night. The third rule is not to bring all nice or expensive clothing. You’re going to be outside and trust me, you will get dirty. You don’t have to care what other people think of you. You can wear some clothes that you normally wouldn’t, you’ll never see these people ever again. If you follow these rules you’ll have a great comfortable trip.

Come Prepared

Safety is a big concern. Make sure to check your car’s oil, tire pressure, brakes and make sure everything is running smoothly so you have no issues on your trip.  You also want to create an itinerary for your trip that includes places you want to go. It is also nice to check out the area before hand so you know where to go. Check when the most popular times are and try and work your way around those. But the number way to have fun is to not follow said itinerary. Create your own adventure as I said in another blog post. But it is important to stay safe during this trip and plan around bad weather and other issues. Following these things will ensure you have fun and stay safe.
